Microneedling Treatment

Microneedling is a minimally invasive cosmetic technique that’s used to treat facial skin concerns via collagen production. This treatment helps clear acne, melasma, and other skin blemishes. Come see us at Remedy. We would love to help you with your skin concerns.

Micro-needling is a procedure that uses needles to prick the skin and encourage the generation of collagen and skin tissue to restore a firmer and smoother skin with more elasticity. Micro-needling can be used to treat wrinkles, and reduce the appearance of acne scars.

The micro-needling procedure normally takes about two hours to complete. While you will see some results after the first treatment, it is possible that you will need at least four treatments to get the best outcome. This procedure will need to be done by a board-certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon. Once this is completed, you will notice firmer and brighter skin.

Micro-needling works by increasing the natural production of collagen and other healing processes in the skin. It does this by using tiny, sterile needles that puncture the skin causing trauma to the skin. The skin needs to repair that damage and regenerates collagen in the process. The process of healing from this takes time and it may take a few months to see the full results.

Micro-needling can be administered in various ways. The most well-known method is with a dermal roller. This is a cylindrical roller with needles on it that pierce the skin. There is also a dermal stamp that punctures a specific area of the skin. More recently, a pen has been developed that can dramatically boost the number of micro-punctures in the same amount of time as other procedures. It is praised for its ability to precisely reach difficult areas of the face.

The greatest benefit of micro-needling is the wide range of applications. Micro-needling can be used on any part of the body to reduce scarring, diminish discoloration and improve skin texture.

There are some side effects of micro-needling. Your skin will likely be flushed or red after the procedure. It may look a little like a sunburn. This redness and possible swelling will usually last about 24 hours. It is best to stay out of bright sunlight after the treatment. After about 48 hours, you may notice some peeling of the skin in the area that has been treated. You may also get some breakouts, bumps, or dry skin. While these are fairly common, not everyone will experience some of these symptoms. Using moisturizers and gentle cleansers after the treatment will help to reduce these side effects.
