QWO Cellulite Treatment

QWO Cellulite Treatment

QWO is an FDA-approved prescription medicine that treats cellulite in women. It works on moderate to severe cases of cellulite in women’s buttocks.

It’s not understood how QWO works in getting rid of moderate to severe cellulite. QWO contains enzymes that are called collagenases that target a cause of cellulite under the skin. It is suspected that QWO accomplishes this in three ways, by stimulating the growth of new collagen, redistributing fat cells, and releasing fibrous bands.

What is cellulite?

Cellulite is a common and harmless skin condition. It causes lumpy and dimpled flesh, usually on the hips, buttocks, thighs, and abdomen. People have tried with varying success to reduce the appearance of cellulite through weight loss, massage, creams marketed as a solution, exercise, and other methods. There are medically proven treatments, but even these are temporary.

What causes cellulite?

There is little information available on what causes cellulite. It is related to fibrous connective cords that connect the skin to the muscle underneath and fat lying between the cords, skin, and muscle. As the fat accumulates, it pushes up against the skin while the fibrous cords pull down. This is what creates dimples and an uneven surface.

There are hormonal factors that play a role in cellulite development. There are genetic factors that determine skin texture, structure, and body type that lead to a more pronounced appearance of cellulite. Weight and muscle tone play a part, but even fit people can have cellulite.

How does QWO work?

QWO gets at the root causes of cellulite to break it down. The prescription medicine, collagenase clostridium histolytic aaes, is an enzyme that is injected into the buttocks and is understood to work in two ways. In the first process, QWO breaks down the collagen in the fibrous brands that are connected to the skin. These fibrous bands pull on the skin, causing the dimples you see with cellulite. Breaking of the fibrous bands allows the skin to look smooth.

The second component of the enzyme action is that it encourages the redistribution of fat cells and stimulates new collagen growth. This is significant because an attribute of cellulite is that it encourages the growth of larger fat cells that give something for the fibrous bands to connect to. The redistributed fat allows the surface of the skin to look much smoother. The boost in collagen production improves skin laxity, allowing it to look younger and firmer, as well.

QWO is a game changer in the treatment of cellulite.

Are you a good candidate for QWO injections?

You are a good candidate for QWO treatment if you are in good health and have identifiable signs of cellulite in the buttocks. You are a good candidate if you have tried other treatments to get rid of cellulite that have not worked. You also need to have realistic expectations about what QWO can do. A consultation with one of the team will help you understand what you can expect from the QWO treatment.

Women who have known allergic reactions to collagenase or other ingredients in the QWO injection are not good candidates. Pregnant women or women who are breastfeeding should not take the QWO treatment. Women with conditions that cause bleeding or are taking prescriptions should inform the staff to see if these will create complications. Some supplements or prescriptions that cause blood thinning may cause severe bruising or hinder the healing process.

What results should I expect?

A dermatologist or surgeon will provide the injection three times at 21-day intervals. Patients should see significant improvement in how the buttocks look and feel. The fullest results will be seen approximately 28 days after the final treatment. QWO works with all skin types and shades.
