Stomach flu is also known as gastroenteritis, acute gastroenteritis, or simply “stomach bug.” This virus infection is characterized by nausea, vomiting, diarrhea (sometimes bloody), abdominal pain, and sometimes fever.

Droplets spread the flu virus from sneezing or coughing
The flu virus is transmitted through respiratory secretions such as saliva, mucus, nasal discharge, and phlegm. These droplets land on surfaces, and then people breathe them in. If you touch something contaminated with the virus, you can transfer it to your eyes, nose, mouth, or other body parts.
Symptoms include fever, sore throat, cough, runny nose, muscle aches, headache, fatigue, vomiting, diarrhea, chills, and body aches
Stomach flu symptoms usually appear within 24 hours after exposure to the virus. However, some people who contract stomach flu do not show signs until two days later.
People with stomach flu may have no symptoms at all.
